Conny Niese
Conny has been involved with the prison team since 2002 and is the oldest member of the team. She is not very much involved with the day to day activities anymore but is still with us in prayer and spirit. She has a passion for the kids and is always asking how they are doing.
Francois Vogelzang
Francois is the leader of the pack and keeps everyone on their toes. He is the visionary and plans and co-ordinates all activities. He worked for the Department of Correctional services for nearly 20 years and thus has a good inside knowledge of conditions and the way of life of the offender. Francois has been involved at Drakenstein since February 2006 and has a sincere passion for the juveniles and has a heart for the lost. His vision is to see the successful completion of this specific project and then that this project is duplicated in many other prison centres.
Sirvarian Christians
Sirvarian is one of the team members who has joined us recently. He is in training and has already shown a deep and sincere passion for the youth.
Tertia Pool
Tertia e is the youngest member of the team and is following in her mother’s footsteps, (Anny Poole) she helps with admin and other small necessities.
Franklyn Poole
Franklyn has been involved with the Drakenstein youth since 2002 and has a deep passion and heart for the youth. His full time job is working for the department of agriculture as a plant Virologist. He spends most of his spare time helping out with the projects and programs at Drakenstein youth centre.
Ryan Gouws
Ryan is an ex drug user and also served some time in prison. Because he has been behind bars himself he knows how the offender thinks and feels, and he is a great asset in helping with the program. He not only helps with the “get real” program but also works intensely with the youth in his community.
Dr Ingrid Koch
Dr Ingrid Koch is a Clinical Psychologist and is with Francois the co-leader of the Project. Her input and expertise is invaluable. She has been working with the disadvantaged youth since 1985 and has a deep and sincere passion to help the disadvantaged. She is also involved in the training of “God parents” for the half way houses that we are in the process of establishing.
Anny Poole
Anny has with her husband Franklyn been involved with the youth at Drakenstein since 2002 and is seen by the youthas their adopted mother. Her involvement is from a deep passion and desire to help uplift the downtrodden. Always ready to help and lend a mothers ear to the youth in Drakenstein.
Hayward and Mare Adams
Hayward and Mare Adams have also been with the team for some time and are now in training as God Parents who will then take up office in our Strand halfway house and be the parents for those parolees we place in that house.
Rhelton Jooste
Rhelton is studying a degree in criminal psychology and is working with the team to gain experience in this field. His input and sincerity is of great value.
David Russell
David works as a full time fund raiser for various organisations and has been part of the team for 2 years. He really enjoys working with the offenders in Drakensten and is an asset to the group. He is also closely involved with the training of the peer leaders.
Elizabeth Arends
She is trained in various aspects of councellling and has quite a lot of experience in pastoral, hospital and personal councelling. The amazing thing about Elizabeth is that she has been blind since birth, but this has not stopped her from doing what she loves best, being part of a team that serves broken people.
Lwazi Mankahla
Lwazi has been with the team for some time. He works for Medi-Clinic as a Public relations liaison officer. He is involved in the leadership training program and is also a dedicated member of the team.
